Confined Reality
Thread of Omen
Following the previous releases of two full length albums, THREAD OF OMEN is back at it again with the release of their newest EP. The band comes from the bustling town of Cape Town, South Africa and was formed in 2013. THREAD OF OMEN has even won some awards for their work, such as African Metal Musicians of the year in 2015. That is quite the achievement to occur so soon after the bands conception.
"A Buried Mastodon" - Comes at us with a hot and heavy sound. This album, this song is metal to the core. Hard like your ex's frozen heart, this track has violent growls and even harder hitting musical tones. There is a lot of energy to this song. "Archetype"- An even harder hitting song, carrying its dark momentum. It has tortured screams, and progressive sounding vocals. To a Melodeth background. "Autumn" - A song whose name elicits images of the softness of fall, true to its name it is a little softer. However, not by much. This song really showcases their melodic side the best out of all the tracks.
"Inherent Vice" - A song whose name perfectly depicts it. Violent, fast, hard. This song hits you so hard you're left wondering what just happened to you? Was it the guitar riffs that knocked you on your ass? Or was it the face melting vocals? Hard to decide. "Na Vervalle Grafkelders" - Another great example of their melodic side. Yet, again, there's nothing soft about this. This is metal at its most ""screamo". Very progressive sounding in combo with the melodic music.
In conclusion, if you need your face rearranged by hard metal, this is it. Do they have circle pits at their concerts? I bet they do. I'd love to see how the crowd reacts to these guys. There's so much energy in their music. "Confined Reality" is well worth the listen, besides face melting vocals and riffs it will rock your socks off. Straight off to hell. Are you scared? You should be. Don't face the darkness, don't stare into the fires of hell if you can't stand the heat. This album is the heat. But, if you're a lover of hard as hell metal, this EP is definitely for you!
