Thrasherwolf - We Are Revolution album cover

The wisps of ashen smoke strewn the airs of the dark and desolate venue, something of little more than a medium concrete hall with an open space atop a makeshift plinth within the back corner-no sooner do your eyes adjust then the remainder of your senses are sent into bouts of overstimulation as the smell of sweat, the radiation of body heat, and a torrent of explicative fill the now enclosing space. There, in the pit, is where some of the greatest of experiences of Metal have been wrought, and one such band that exemplifies this sensation to a T, THRASHWOLF is true to Thrash through and through and with their debut, "We Are Revolution," have made their name now cemented in the annals of Thrash.

The album commences with a short prelude dubbed, "Words Of Revolution," a fitting title for a track guised at provoking an uprising. The first track to explore the band's music and style in full is, "War," which is also the longest track on the album, as well an oddity for the genre coming in at 11 and a half minutes. "The Vortex" on the other hand is the shortest full song on the album and one of the fastest at that; the break is remarkably memorable shifting the tone of the song in full and coming off as something self-inflicting. "Vanity" has quite an unusual build being more reminiscent of Groove Metal with its start-stop progressions, and yet the blending of solid drum beats with strings also brings to mind nuances of classic Rock n' Roll.

The instrumentation is a powerful and resonating force permeating throughout the entirety of the album, emphasizing and epitomizing the grandeur of Thrash Metal within the confines of an impressive 52 minute onslaught. The guitars are composed of captivating tones which captivate the listener and pave each song with a gritty energy; the bass is a force of raw fervor condensed into a guttural deepness; the drums are so well mixed with the strings and voice that they sit distinct within their own niche never detracting from the rest of the instruments; and the voice is of such a clear and cutting harshness that the music would feel empty without it.

THRASHWOLF has managed a grand release and debut, something teaming and overflowing with bouts of Speed and Thrash Metal, that which is the pure essence of the band. The energy is great, the presentation immaculate, and the compositions quite pristine, for anyone with any manner of interest in Thrash or Metal in general "We Are Revolution" is a grand addition.
