Bio Decay

Thrash Bombz

When I start to listen it is clear that the name of THRASH BOMBZ has been chosen for a reason. The Thrash Metal sounds that are being omitted from the speakers are quite tell-tale, as there is no doubt as to that is the musical genre that fills over 55 minutes of “Bio Decay”.

THRASH BOMBZ has apparently been around since 2007, but for me this is the first time that I have encountered these Italians from Agrigento on Sicily. Throughout the years they have been able to produce a demo in 2012 ("Sicilian Way Of Thrash"), the "Sicilian Thrash Attack Of Death" split album with MAGHANAT and ANEURYSM in 2013, two EP's ("Mission Of Blood" in 2013 and "Dawn" in 2014) plus three studio albums ("Mission Of Blood" in 2014, "Master Of The Dead" in 2017 and "Prisoner Of Disaster" in 2018) before giving us the one I'm about to review. "Bio Decay" has been seven years in the making, so I must admit that I'm expecting great things. Especially as I'm rather partial to a good bit of Thrash Metal coming my way.

When I start to listen it is clear that the name of THRASH BOMBZ has been chosen for a reason. The Thrash Metal sounds that are being omitted from the speakers are quite tell-tale, as there is no doubt as to that is the musical genre that fills over 55 minutes of "Bio Decay". And another aspect that becomes rather apparent when listening is that the musicians of THRASH BOMBZ are no slouches either. They ooze experience and ease when playing their Thrash Metal tunes. That makes listening to the twelve songs on offer a very pleasant experience. And the fact that singer Tony "Stormer" Frenda has a voice that is perfect for this musical genre, only adds to the enjoyment.

What I will say that as far as "Bio Decay" is concerned, I have a bit of a reservation to mention. Which is that as far as I'm concerned, I can't really say that the band name THRASH BOMBZ is justified. Yes, this is Thrash Metal pur sang, and it is as solid, heavy and hard as granite as one would wish, but that is where it ends. It's good, but not exciting. Nowhere will you be surprised, feel wrong-footed, be caught unawares. The THRASH part of the name is perfect; I just don't feel that the BOMBZ have been able to detonate on "Bio Decay". There isn't one song that makes me turn my head, that has that extraordinary quality that you wish to discover. But don't let my ranting put you off listening to what is on offer here, because you might see, hear or feel this differently than I do.
