Canada! A Canadian band! THEORY OF A DEADMAN's fifth album "Savages" is probably their most ballsy and daring and its great! Being on the same record label that has TRIVIUM and had KING DIAMOND/MERCYFUL FATE this better be an awesome release from Roadrunner Records.
Lets jump right into this, there's a good amount to talk about with a thirteen song album. "Drown" opens up the album, and is also the first song to be released in anticipation for this album. The song pulls you in completely if you like the bands you're already drawn, I know I was instantly after about 30 seconds. "Blow" follows and is easily my most favored song on here, its about how the world is going to hell with lyrics about how 12 year olds are posting nudes on twitter, treating women right unlike Chris Brown, and how reality TV stars are somehow heroes. "Savages" is the following song, and no this isn't a track by track these 3 just happen to be in order. "Savages" features Shock Rock/Heavy Metal god Alice Cooper, given a small section of lyrics and providing backings during the chorus, this is also one of the weakest songs on the album yet its still an incredible song so think that through with some awesome instrumentals and very catchy lyrics. Last song I have to mention is "Livin' My Life Like A Country Song" takes everything we know about Country music and throws it in one song, love, sadness, drinking, and trailers. This song also features from Country star Joe Don Rooney from RASCAL FLATTS, before you walk away going "what the fuck is this guy talking about, thus is a website for metal music ya dumbass," hear me out, this song fits perfectly and I do really enjoy the way this Country song fits into a Hard Rock album and its incredibly well done so don't lynch me up.
There it is THEORY OF A DEADMAN will blow your mind if you give this a chance, this is the most I've listened to the band in a while and they should be interesting to see live supporting this album. If you like yourself and well done, well paced Hard Rock check out "Savages" so you can stop thinking i'm crazy!
