The Slam - Hit It album cover

Out of Canada here is a four pieces bomb of Hard Rock named THE SLAM. I first noticed their influences. Their music moves between KISS to BLACK SABBATH through BOSTON mixed with some 70's Hard Rock spiced with a lot of Rock N' Roll energy. The band was put together by the vision of their singer Serge Simic who based his music on his Hard Rock heroes with a modern production feel of nowadays that he took a part of it. The album was recorded in 3 different studios with the participation of the Rock legend Glenn Hughes with the mixing of by Maor Appelbaum in L.A.

So what we got here is an album of Hard Rock that will drive you to rock with big choruses, hooking guitar riffs and catchy songs. Serge reminds me a little bit of the rough vocal edge of Gene Simmons, something that contributes to the KISS influence on the album. I can feel also the Bluesy roots in every song, not the Southern US sound but the Bluesy Hard Rock that refers to some of the Glam Metal bands of the 80s.

Gladly, I didn't find any weak song here; each one has got his own magic that really gives you the meaning of what Rock is all about. I found the first track, "Wild Ride", very good and even so simple, it is so catchy that you will never get enough of it. "Little Angel" is a pure Rocking track with of one of the greatest Rock singers as guest, Glenn Hughes, that brings a new meaning to the song with his magical abilities. I found the song "Tears In The Rain" as one of the best tracks on this album, the song shows a different side of the band, acoustic but with a DANZIG vocal style by Serge. The chorus is so flowing that will stick to your head, it has good melody and the break part is just in the right place. "90-50-91 Love" is another great track that really got the KISS sign with the Hard Rock 70s style. The clean guitar melody was mixed so good with the distortion guitar riff in the chorus; the solo part has so much feel in it with that Bluesy touch.

"Hit It" is the right answer for the Rock audience, Hard Rock seekers and whoever has Heavy Metal flowing in their veins. Give a listen to this album and you won't regret, this is the way of good Rock N' Roll is done.
