THE ROADKILL is Hard Rock / Industrial Metal band from Porsgrunn, Norway formed in 2009. In 2010 they have released debut album "Army Of Five" and right at the cross towards the new year, they issued their sophomore, "Reborn".
The opening intro, the self-titled, "Reborn", moves in with electronic echoes and horrific sounds, just to let your mind enter through the veil of darkness. "You'll Never Be Alone" seduced with a Rock / Metal combo featuring creative LED ZEPPELIN driven guitars portraying Heavy Metal riffs with hard to the core bass in the vein of IRON MAIDEN, slowly as it goes progressive. "OMG" is a robust Industrial meets Rock entanglement, featuring a catchy chorus with a shard of fun. The album's single, "Choke" cuts through with a Rapcore dosage, mega mix with 90's Nu Metal and slithering Pop, might sound complex but actually rather to the point. On the other hand, "Give In To Me" is a journey back to with 80's, attributing Hard Rock with the proto Techno tunes of DEPECHE MODE, including similar vocal lines. "Loveless" is of the gentler few, nice an easy tune with great singing. "The Face Without a Name" retains 80's Hard Rock proportions, gathering a tad of DEEP PURPLE Blues riffs along with IRON MAIDEN influences.
THE ROADKILL inflicted an album with heavy songs, delivering 80's and 90's Rock and Metal on nearly all of their forms, other than being harsh. You might argue that these guys have their own thing going, not being copycats, just plain inventive and a whole lot of appetite. I'm interested what this band will offer in the future and I can't wait for new tracks, as I said, a prospect in the making.
