Attracted To Danger

The New Roses

Surrender to the danger of Glam Metal/Hard Rock exposed on this album! NOW!
September 19, 2024

The old and good Glam Metal (for some countries, as Brazil, the genre must be described as ‘Californian Hard Rock’) is back to the attack, and even without the same commercial success of the 80s, more and more bands or are back to activity, or then new ones are coming and releasing fine works. And Germany seems to be entering the Glam Metal club, and THE NEW ROSES is back with the band’s sixth album, “Attracted to Danger”. Only hearing the first song, “When You Fall in Love”, you can have the clear idea of what is presented on the sonority: defined and clean, but full of those essential and organic filthy touches that Rock ‘n’ Roll is about.

It means: you can understand what’s being musically expressed by the quartet, but the songs are sounding ‘in-your-face’.Their music is based on a simple and nasty form of Hard/Glam Metal, with catchy melodies, choruses that are easy to learn and sing along in the shows, and that influences inherited from Hard Rock and Blues that makes everything better. And “Attracted to Danger” sounds inspired, full of energy and life, but without the songs sounding ‘rigid’ or too overloaded on terms of instrumental arrangements. No, it’s furious, melodic and straight, and wonderful!

After hearing to the album, one must rise and praise the quartet, because they created a precious Hard/Glam Metal jewel, as heard on moments as “When You Fall in Love” (what great chorus and vocals), “Natural Born Vagabonds” (the beginning based on vocals and acoustic guitars is just an intro to a tender song plenty with that old and good Country Rock taste, again with an excellent chorus and thunderous bass guitar and drums presence), “Attracted to Danger” (lovely melodies and an amazing flow of energy), “Four Wheels”, “Bring the Thunder” (clear influences of KISS can be heard in the drums on this one), “This Heart” (it’s a more accessible song, with excellent guitars), “Hold Me Up” (where Gill Montgomery, singer of THE HOT DAMN and THE AMORETTES, appears as a guest, and again one can feel the influences of Country Rock on this ballad-like song) , “Spirit of a Rebel” (another accessible song, here with many influences of Rock ‘n’ Roll), “Rockin’ in the Free World” (as the title states clear, this is a version for old hymn of Neil Young, respecting its original elements, but more melodic and with some guitars’ arrangements in a ‘Val Halenian’ way) and “Whiskey in the Backseat”. Just one listening and you’ll be hooked.

Be “Attracted to Danger” and surrender to the music of THE NEW ROSES!
