The Fading - In Sin We'll Find Salvation album cover

Oh, this album HAS to be really interesting and dangerously kickass! At least, that would justify the band's recent success. You haven't heard? THE FADING are the winners of Wacken Metal Battle 2008, a contest organized by Wacken in order to let new and talented Metal bands around the world show their talent and earn a place in the festival as well as a record contract with Wacken Records (division of Armageddon Music).

I was kind of impatient to hear the first ever full-length release by this Israeli quintet. Their only release so far was a self financed EP. The band fought its way to the final and finally won. The result is the release of In Sin We'll Find Salvation, which was produced by Pelle Saether (EBONY TEARS, CARNAL FORGE, NECRODEATH) and mixed by Jonas Kjellgren (SCAR SYMMETRY) at the Abyss Studios.

The truth is that my initial enthusiasm was somehow lost during the listening session of this album. I expected that the winner of such a contest would be a kind of different and interesting band. Not that THE FADING is not an interesting band, but only for the ones who are into this melodic Death Metal/Metalcore stuff that flood the market. Their music is well worked, they seem to be a really tight and powerful band and their enthusiasm is definitely printed in their songs, but what different can one more melodic Death Metal band offer to the Metal scene?

Their shredding guitars, the frenzy drumming and the bestial vocals may impress you, but in the end it is just one more decent band, nothing more. I am sure that fans of this sound will like it, but the rest of you can look for something else.
