THE ELECTRIC MUD is coming at you with a great offering of retro/stoner rock with the album "Burn The Ships". This album opens with "The First Murder On Mars". On this track, you will hear a very rhythmic musical background, allowing the voice of the lead singer to pour through in that ever so chilling way that is desirable in stoner rock. The way all the music is brought together not only sounds amazing, but also has a deep and meaningful impact. This album is a must listen if you are looking for something to chill out after a long day at the office.
"A Greater Evil" starts out with a perfect bass line and leads into what unfolds to be a brilliant display of musicianship. The bassline is present throughout the majority of the song, but there are moments where it falls away and leaves you with a heavier tone that ties together with the title of the song perfectly. All of this is accompanied by a well-placed, almost screeching, guitar solo that makes this song one of the better ones on the album, in my personal opinion. It is something that definitely needs to be heard to understand what I am talking about.
If the thought of "A Greater Evil" has you feeling all sorts of weird, then the next song you should listen to is "Priestess". This song opens with a menagerie of music that draws you in. Upbeat drums and fast paced guitar are the stars, all building up to the lyrics of the song. Within these lyrics, you will find yourself seeing the bigger story, if you give yourself the true opportunity to get engaged and lost within the music. Allow yourself to find the messages meant for you here and you will not be disappointed. I cannot say for sure that it will put any unease to rest, but it surely will be a message that you need in some aspects of your life.
Throughout the album, you can tell that THE ELECTRIC MUD put a lot of thought and work into its creation. It delivers that chill vibe we all want from our retro/stoner rock, and more! If you have been looking for a new band to vibe out to, you need to look no further than this. Go give this album a try and see if it's for you.
