The Devil's Blood - III: Tabula Rasa Or Death And The Seven Pillars album cover

THE DEVIL'S BLOOD is a band from Eindhoven, The Netherlands that has been playing Occult type Rock, going back to 2006. Their debut was released in 2009 called "The Time of No Time Evermore", coming in second was 2011's "The Thousandfold Epicentre". Recently, the band announced in 2013 that they plan to return to the nothingness with a new album named "III: Tabula Rasa Or Death And The Seven Pillars".

"Ι Was Promised a Hunt" hailing at the opening, lasts over 22 minutes, take it from me, one must be patient while listening. It is a classic vintage type Rocker, recalling a bit of early works of PINK FLOYD yet also the trance of the fusion of styles following influences of LED ZEPPELIN, RUSH, BLACK SABBATH and JETHRO TULL. The vocals of  Farida Lemouchi utterly beautiful, deep, emotional and so clear. "..If Not a Vessel?" jabs the same vintage feel, yet with much clearer vocal demonstration. I believe it to be the best on this release, a long guitar solo, fabulous rhythm section and an overall 60s feel of the vocals. "In The Loving Arms of Lunacy's Secret Demons" emits a fine journey with the band to beauty of music, haziness and melodies. "The Lullaby Of the Burning Body" carries a Psychedelic Rock flavour with it. The epic "White Storm Of Teeth" is just a transcendental pathway harbouring addictive sounds and splendid vocals. Near 10 minutes instrumental "Dance of The Elements" is a diverse mystical expedition through Progressive Rock and its fine arts. "Tabula Rasa", another play and no sing, lasts over 8 minutes with a solid bluesy riff & an inspiring atmosphere, mysterious and magical climate.

THE DEVIL'S BLOOD is theatrics at its best, a combination of exponent Progressive Rock, Psychedelic music and that old obscurity, though pretty realistic and sticks to Rock's history. Listening to their material is a certain spiritual experience. While playing a session, just let yourself go, ease in your seat and dream.
