Angels and Demons
The Chapter

Spawned in the suburbs of Lisbon, Portugal, Death Metal band THE CHAPTER is here to paint your world in shades of metallic gray, coal black and even blacker. In 2017, they set out to create a second EP and instead wound up creating a monster that was hard to control. That fateful day, they unleashed the creature was while recording a song they hoped to have featured in a film clip for a local Portuguese Horror movie festival, Motel X. THE CHAPTER's creation? "Angels and Demons". Impressed by the quality and expressiveness of the track, they decided to record another, and soon one more became two more and then after four more songs written and recorded, they had a total of eight monstrous, musical offspring. And thus, THE CHAPTER's official debut "Angels and Demons" came to be.
The song that began it all, "Angels and Demons" opens with Pedro Rodrigues' menacing growl, rage brimming and blazing like a hundred brushfires. There are melodic choruses and subtle interludes reminiscent of Doom Metal when angry riffs are injected with morphine tempos. THE CHAPTER share more in common with their Black Metal brethren than they do with Death and Doom, drawing similarities with beautiful DEAFHEAVEN wrapped in a cozy layer of their fellow Portuguese Metallers MOONSPELL. Rodrigues and Fernando Ribeiro sharing similar vocal ranges.
THE CHAPTER still packs energy into their riffs like "Aenima Vipera" after the heart wrenching "Shattered Emotions" as to not get too lost in a suffocating hold of heady chords and ten tons of slow and steady drumbeats. "For A Ghost's" lyrics lament the pain a loved one's death still causes and how toxic that remembrance becomes when they continue to haunt. Songs like "Librarian", "This Scar" and "To Live For" show off raw emotions sung by clean vocals and longer riffs that crawl across unforgiving wastelands. "Angels and Demons" is a brutal assault on your very soul in the slowest, most agonizing way possible.
