Cheap Food

Teutonic Slaughter

TEUTONIC SLAUGHTER is able to translate their thoughts into bloody impressive songs that have that bit of an edge to them, you just can’t help but enjoy all 36 minutes that they are making a lot of noise.

Damn, how impressive is this intro. In it TEUTONIC SLAUGHTER gives a short explanation of everything that happened during the 1988 Hostage Crisis in Gladbeck in Germany. Oh, and they do tell the history in German. Well, the band name isn't chosen at random, you know. Neither is the telling of the crisis, as it happened in their hometown. And yes, the first full song "Hostage" does it all again, only this time it is in English. With the kind of Thrash Metal these Germans play it only adds to the intensity of the situation at hand. TEUTONIC SLAUGHTER was founded in 2012, and although they have released more music in the years since, this is only their third full-length studio album.

TEUTONIC SLAUGHTER have chosen to name this album "Cheap Food". They haven't given us a reason for it, but I can tell you that unless you love your Old School Thrash Metal you can just skip this  "Cheap Food" all together. Because that is what this band is all about, straight forward no-nonsense Thrash Metal as was invented and developed in the eighties. And let's face it, coming from the Ruhr area of Germany they have had enough bands as peers to follow. What I like is that although they have adopted the oldy worldy feel of early era Thrash Metal, they have decided to give the album a very up to date production. But do NOT expect contemporary sounds or distractions. Nope, even though the sound is up to date, it also still has that raw feel, the rough edge and intensity of how Thrash Metal came to conquer the world way back when.

And when you then have a band like TEUTONIC SLAUGHTER that is able to translate their thoughts into bloody impressive songs that have that bit of an edge to them, you just can't help but enjoy all 36 minutes that they are making a lot of noise. I'm going to tell you that if you wish to enjoy simple but effective Thrash Metal, you could do a lot worse than listen to "Cheap Food". It's not the best Thrash Metal album ever, but it is one that wouldn't go amiss in the record collection of anyone who likes that kind of music. any Thrasher should, could and would be proud to say that they know who TEUTONIC SLAUGHTER is, and that, if necessary (or if you wish them to), they will serve up "Cheap Food" to prove it.
