Eventually, the first 'rock' concert DVD from TESLA is a fact. Comin' Atcha Live! 2008 is already out in the USA the last weeks, via the Sacramento-based band's own Tesla Electric Company Recordings label, while now Frontiers Records deals with the European market. Since an adequate number of reviews is already uploaded in the Web, just a brief synopsis shall we present (while it's the x-th time listening/watching to Modern Day Cowboy's part).
TESLA decided to film their gig in Minnesota, in February 2008, for the release of a live DVD, to hit along with their newest Forever More CD. Good idea, since the band rocks the house in a nearly 2-hour performance full of energy and bluesy/electrified Hard Rock music (TESLA's one of those bands mistakenly labeled as 100% Glam Metal', due to them touring in their heyday to the likes of DEF LEPPARD and David Lee Roth, while we should not forget the MTV patterns etc). With 80% of the original lineup (Tommy Skeoch was out again, Dave Rude stepped in) it's obvious both the band and the crowd rock off to the sounds of classics like Comin'Atcha Live, Modern Day Cowboy, Hang Tough, What You Give and Edison's Medicine; songs were selected from their entire discography.
Excellent sound, the 'raw' vocals of Jeff Keith are still here (not in full capacity, though, and that's the first drawback), Frank Hannon's as dominant/positive as he can get, Dave Rude does the job in ease, Brian Wheat supports the volume in full mode and Troy Luccketta pounds his kit like a sweaty teenager. The band is solid, the mood is fine, memories burst out to the hearing of the 80s singles like Love Song (a kinda moody feeling that - unfortunately - is spread all over the DVD), the audience features a good portion of core fans now in their 40s. Yet, what counts most is TESLA's performance that night, and that's surely nice. Really, older hardrockers cannot have forgotten what great players all TESLA members were/are.
Bonus goodies include 'behind the scenes' footage and interviews in between the songs and such stuff (gear checking, street walking, soundcheck, fans etc). You do not need them to decide if you'll dig the Comin' Atcha Live! 2008 DVD. If a devotee of TESLA and/or 80s American Hard Rock in general, this disc is needed for your taste. TESLA can still shake your dance, it seems.

P.S.: Paradise's vibe will surely evoke some emotion again...Also, let's recall Song And Emotion was written for DEF LEPPARD's late Steve 'Steamin' Clark.
