Terrordome - Straight Outta Smogtown album cover

TERRORDOME is a Polish quartet formed in 2005. Fast paced and aggressive, they play modern Thrash Metal with a flair for integrating other genres like Hardcore, Punk and even some Skater and Stoner Metal. "Straight Outta Smogtown"is their third full-length record and was released through Selfmadegod Records on February 5, 2021.

After a short intro instrumental with a really long name ("Terrorizing The Nation As The Best Way To Thwart Shameful Schemes"), this record just launches at warp speed. "Possessed By Blyat" is a song that seems to not like the old USSR. I will not get into the geo-political thinking of 1986, the year specified in the song, but I will say TERRORDOME does not seem like a fan of that old Communist country. Politics, greed and corruption will play a huge role in the lyrics throughout this album.

"Plastic Death" has a bit of a conservationist feel to it. These guys are obviously not happy with consumerism or the governments of the world destroying the planet for profit. I mean, who does like that other than corrupt politicians and corporations that really just don't care about how they make their money.

"Your Personal Comfort Versus The Global Disaster" is another song railing against the Oligarchy. Again, serious thrash music with a message, one that warns that everything we have is being destroyed by those who just don't care and are incapable of changing. These guys are pissed off and mad about it.

"Money Kills", "Demolition" and "Conspiracy" follow along the same vein. This is a socially conscious and aware record that delivers its' message at break-neck speed. Whether you believe the world is being demolished in front of your very eyes or not, these guys do believe, and they are not going to sit quietly and let it happen without saying something.

TERRORDOME is nothing if not hyper-aggressive. The guitars are some of the fastest I've heard. The bassist is rock solid, supporting the rhythm with ease. The drummer is outstanding. Blast beats that just never seem to let up, powering the songs along with speed and accuracy. These are seriously skilled musicians. I'm betting a live show by these guys leaves them sweaty and out of breath. I'm guessing their fans are probably just as wiped out after the show.

As with many metal bands, TERRORDOME have something to say and are screaming it from the rooftops, stages and wherever else they can. Their specific message is to wake up and stop supporting the world order that is destroying the planet. More bands, and people, need to do the same. There is no politeness in their message, indicating their belief that polite words don't get hears. Maybe we all need to yell a little louder!
