Reigning from France is TEMNEIN, a talented Progressive, Melodic Death band anxiously waiting to release their new eleven-track album, "White Stained Inferno", which is set to release on October 20th 2017 by Massacre Records. TEMNEIN claims that "White Stained Inferno" is more dark and atmospheric than its predecessor "404 B.C." The band is highly influenced by AT THE GATES, BETWEEN THE BURIED AND ME, and CARCASS. Fans of these bands, as well as other Melodic Death metal bands will not be disappointed with TEMNEIN.
"White Stained Inferno" begins with an instrumental titled, "Impending Outbreak", to set the mood of the album. It features light, acoustic and atmospheric notes at first, and then delves into blast beats and heavier melodies, which bring the listener to the next track titled, "Ataxia." "Ataxia" has a DARK TRANQUILLITY essence to it featuring well-formed rhythm sequences, uplifting guitar riffs, wicked solos, and raspy growls, which I greatly enjoy. My ears are happy and my head is banging. I like what I am hearing so far.
The next track, "Denying the Threat," is generic in the beginning but it finishes strong. Nonetheless, my head is still banging. The vocals are amazing. Terrific solos converging with punctual drumming can be found at 4:51. "Bad Omen" starts off generic with the cliché thunderstorm, accompanied by atmospheric notes, and then abruptly shifts to heavy guitar shreds parallel by nicely timed double bass drums. "White Stained Inferno," is an extremely brutal track with energizing riffs that are nicely complimented with melody. The guitar work at 2:59 shot chills down my spine, and the breakdown at 3:45 makes me want to punch random people in a pit. I like that when listening to metal. Metal is supposed to bring out my raw, primal emotions, and this track does just that.
"The Seal" is hands down the best track on the album; it is technical, heavy, and filled with high octane. Make sure you raise the volume on this one because it is full of texture and has extremely brutal, catchy melodies and frequent tempo shifts which makes this track surprising and enjoyable. "White Stained Inferno" closes with "Dawn of A New Day", a musical shift from the previous tracks. It surprised me a little because it features some atmospheric clean vocals and progressive, acoustic riffs that remind me of OPETH'S "Damnation" album. Overall, "White Stained Inferno" is an album that TEMNEIN should boast about. All the hard work put into it will pay off and set the bar for TEMNEIN. I thoroughly listened to it without any complaints. Well done.<
