Surma

These well-dressed gentlemen deliver a fine sample of Finish black metal (what?)... It's always nice to see people dressed up to the standards of Vogue (hehe). Seriously now Surma might brought in mind another known well-dressed black metal act with their Armani costumes but truth is it's always nice to see people outside the infernal frost black true metal outfits.
The story behind Surma is plain and simple: according to their biography sheet they have already released two more demo works in the past, Demo 2004 that was released in... oh well 2004 and Veren Tytar in the fall of 2006. This EP was recorded in September 2006.
Prior point fingers in this review let me just say that this EP contains lyrics in Finnish since this is the language that best captures the essence of Surma according themselves. No objection but this is black metal so anyway you look at it even if the singer sang in Chinese it wouldn't make a difference for the listener, unless he had the lyrics and knew how to read the language.
Surma's music now... Very good and primitive black metal with the known railroad-like guitar riffs. Though quite row as material melody is not a stranger to this band. And maybe they cannot claim an award for originality but what they do they do it rather well.
Question: the CD includes four songs, yet on the back cover only three are mentioned. Why is that?
