Sun Of The Sleepless

Even though the first six tracks seem to belong to an entire band, Sun Of The Sleepless, they actually belong to Ulf Theodor Schwadorf and yes it's a one-man band. This musician is well know from Empyrium and The Vision Bleak.
From the very first hearing of this album you realize that S.O.T.S is a good example of cold, melodic Black Metal with lots of electronic samples (bits). The outcome of this musical mixture is very interesting. S.O.T.S. open with Wolf In Sheep's Skin Clad which is a fast and full of aggressiveness song. The third song in this album is a cover of Burzum's Dunkelheit, an interesting feature possessing the profile of quality Black Metal. They also have another cover song, this time for Darkthrone's Tausend Kalte Winter. This cover is not very good in my opinion due to all of the electronic stuff (which is more than required) added in it though it still maintains an outstanding background atmosphere.
The really good part can be found in their last track as S.O.F.T.S. prepare us with a very good outro to face the holy war that Nachtmahr are about to show us. Nachtmahr is a band from Germany and they strictly stick to old-school Black Metal. They are surely inspired by Darkthrone and other similar Norwegian hordes. The cold riffs and icy melodies, the simple drumming, the rotten vocals; all construct a nice Black Metal portion. I think that this release is definitely worth owning.
