Suicidal Angels - Bloodbath album cover

No matter how they sound like today, I think that we ought to be thankful for having a band like SLAYER. Without their musical guidance in Thrash Metal, I doubt that we would be listening to, and about, bands such as SEPULTURA, at least the older version of the 80s, and DEW-SCENTED among others that also can be considered as SLAYER devotees. SUICIDAL ANGELS from Greece, not that new name in the worldwide scene, are a part of that same SLAYER family of bands though sometimes close to darker corners.

The hard working band didn't wait for their previous album, "Dead Again", to sink in hard and already they are out again with a new album, under the same tag of NoiseArt Records, named "Bloodbath". In comparison to the previous it was, as expected, a regular day at the office for SUICIDAL ANGELS. Generally, the performance rate of these guys, as always, is exemplary. The Thrash nature of their violent tracks presents a fine meld of straightforward riffages, barking vocals of anger along with mayhemic bursts of chaos that are common in Black and old school Death Metal. In the bottom line, "Bloodbath" is a good prospect.

On the other hand, and this is more for newer listeners that haven't known this band before, this is a SLAYER like group that closely shares the same orientations of both rhythms, lead section and vocals following the sound (Produced well by MYSTIC PROPHECY's frontman, Roberto Liapkis). Therefore, don't expect to find ground breaking features, also on the extreme Metal end, but you will be once again evident to another show of force. SUICIDAL ANGELS maintain the same bombastic energies of morbid Thrash that worked with well on SLAYER's classic such as "South Of Heaven", "Reign In Blood" and "Season In The Abyss". Though not so original, this is what preservation of the old is all about.

As for tracks that stood tall than others I liked "Chaos" and "Bleeding Cries" as those two were slightly out of the SLAYERish spectrum and more into the SUICIDAL ANGELS zone. Furthermore, I cheered to tracks such as "Summoning Of The Dead", "Torment Payback" and "Morbid Intention To Kill". Even as an highly influenced group of the past, SUICIDAL ANGELS is still a group of skilled Thrashers that seems to know quite well what is the meaning of "In Your Face".

The only thing left for me here is to recommend "Bloodbath" to you all because no matter what happens, every country has their own SLAYERs. Give it up for the fallen angels.
