STRAIGHT HATE is a grindcore/death metal four piece out of Poland. They formed in 2008 but it wasn't until 2014 when they released their first EP titled Mental Disorder and a split album with the band SPEEDY GONZALES. Wizun was brought in behind the drums in 2016 as the band put out their first full length album "Every Scum is a Straight Arrow" via Deformeathing Productions. Within the same year, the band returned, splitting another release with the band STRAWBERRY INJECTION. Now in 2019, the band comes out with Black Sheep Parade, their second album release and quickly follow that up with another split album titled East Grind Attack with the band NUCLEAR HOLOCAUST. Slaves of Falseness is the third album put out by the band and first under the label Selfmadegod Records.
A chaotic and brutal start to the album with "Decay". Low tuned guitar riffs and snapping snare drums dominate the minute long track, as the descent into insanity slowly begins. The music is not very transparent, giving you a direct approach with not much left to think about other than the harshness of the vocals and the heavy assault of grindcore metal. The album follows suit with "Cursed", "Yorkshire Ripper" and "Spongers", with the latter incorporating a solid flowing, head banging death metal riff to tie off the track. "Egzystencja" would fall under the category of the more radio friendly track on the release if there is one to be mentioned. A solid song with more rhythm than the tracks leading up to it which implants the song in your head.
"Corrupted Leader" is a track I wish had more time to develop. Being only forty eight seconds long is not enough to get into the heavy hardore punk stylings of the one-two one-two punch. The band follows that up with the black metal meets brutal death on the track "Selfness". The song builds and holds the intensity throughout with some great drumming and deeply coarse vocals. The track "Awhile" takes you along the metal path with the likes of ENSLAVED meets TRIBULATION with the unsettling slow picking and no rush approach, even though the song registers in at a minute and fifty. A devastating blast of voraciousness opens the track "Stalker". A heavy rumbling bass line and giant vocals eventually give way to a subdued guitar riff and a fading drumline. We will jump ahead to the closing track "Yesterday" as a marching drum leads before the song takes off. The song is a mix of crunchy and low guitars and a more audible high sonic approach making a solid mix to keep you engaged. The drum beat is pretty creative and catchy leading to being one of the stand out tracks on the release.
Straight and direct impact from the music with no fillers involved. Some of the tracks could have used a little more time to round out but that wouldn't fit the style of the band. With that being said, you get what you get, like it or leave it. This was the first time for me hearing the band and the album has done enough to peak my interest enough to venture back to previous releases. Not just for the grindcore kids out there, it could be accepted by most genres with the variations from track to track.
