Choosing a band name can be a very dangerous business. Here's a good example. If you adopt a name like STARGAZER, in which you are referring to one of the best songs ever made, by the mighty RAINBOW, you are setting the standard and expectations very high. And to put it lightly, these Norwegians haven't exactly delivered on the promise. Even after being making music for fifteen years, they haven't been able to make "Life Will Never Be The Same" into one of those must-have albums. This is their third full length album, after "Stargazer" in 2009 and "The Sky Is The Limit" in 2019. I have a vague recollection of having listened to both albums. The fact that I don't remember anything about them should be telling.
Well, I am sorry to say that it will be the same for "Life Will Never Be The Same", as for me the title is totally wrong. It should read "Nothing Changes", as this is run of the mill Melodic Rock. Yes, it is played properly, the sound is good and the band consists of real musicians. And even if the songs are okay, they are as exciting as watching grass grow, or, if you will, a snail's race. The only reason that I am not rating this under 6 out of 10 is because I know there are people that will lap this up in an instant. When they hear the name of the band, plus that the record company sites DEEP PURPLE, VAN HALEN and DIO as references will probably have the desired effect. Fact is that if any of the bands mentioned would have produced such a lacklustre performance, the fans would have revolted.
I am truly sorry that I can't make anything more out of this review, and I also know that there are people who will think of "Life Will Never Be The Same" as a brilliant album and rate STARGAZER as a bloody great band, but I for one will not be one of them. I don't mind that you redo what has been done before, or that you have a certain sound, but please, please, put some welly into it. Get some crackers up your arse. Don't just be plodding along. Do that to change your tune, and I will change mine. You're not making anybody happy, if you ask me, but you probably aren't.
