Six Silver Suns - As Archons Fall album cover

Since the coming of the rediscovery of the sonorities of the past, many bands tried something to bring back the same feeling, but with a different insight (because no one can be another person, just yourself). And although many bad works (that were just copying what others left on the sands of time) were throw over our heads, some bands came and made great releases. And one to join the team of very good names is the Finnish sextet SIX SILVER SUNS, as "As Archons Fall" is here to shown.

Based on experienced musicians, the main idea of the sextet is to play in a way between Classic Rock and AOR from the 70's, but bring the great Pop Rock elements. Obviously that one can say that they're in a vein similar (and similar doesn't mean equal, you know) to the work of THE NIGHT FLIGHT ORCHESTRA, but in a more Rock orientated direction. Very good catchy melodies, good technical work, excellent and charming choruses, and a fresh energy flow from this album, so you must be aware, and listen to it! The production was done in a way to catch the organic sound from the musical instruments, and to mix and master as they are, to create the right feeling for the songs. But the way things were mixed and mastered guarantee that the fans will not miss a thing of their music.

As one deals with "As Archons Fall", it'll be clear that as long as you hear the album more than a bit, the person will be hooked. And melodic battering hams as "Lord of the Southern Tower" (charming chorus, very good work of the vocals and backing vocals, and of the keyboards), "To the Unknown" (this one is filled with excellent accessible melodies, another great chorus, and what great guitars and keyboards parts), "Children of the Stars" (that touch of Country Rock mixed with AOR elements is always a great deal, especially when based on a strong and solid rhythmic work from bass guitar and drums), "Fading by Light" (wow, what wonderful melodies and accessible feeling supported by excellent guitars and vocals), "Sweet Promethean" (a song filled with very good Pop Rock touches, and lovely bass guitar parts), and "Edge of Forever" are the best ones for a first time on their work. On the second listen, you'll become a fan of their work. Oh, pay attention to their personal version for "California Dreamin'" (come on, it's an old success of THE MAMAS AND THE PAPAS).

"As Archons Fall" is really a great album, and SIX SILVER SUNS shows itself a very promising name.
