There are Metal bands that earned a "cult" status throughout the years: they never grew in terms of commercial success, but they have their faithful fan base. One of the most known names of German cult bands is, for sure, SINNER. They're a 40 years old band (or almost it, because it was formed in 1980) who created very good albums, and besides the difficulties, they're still here, releasing new albums. And "Santa Muerte" is the latest. Obviously, everyone already knows what the band works on its music. But for those that aren't into their career: it's a heavy and melodic blend between Hard Rock from the 70's with traditional German Heavy Metal. Yes, it's heavy and thunderous, but always with excellent melodies, hooking choruses and a solid and heavy instrumental work, and a very good work on vocals. No, it's not excessively technical, and it's not their aim. It's a form of music that is really very good, and deserves to be listened out loud!

Mat Sinner produced "Santa Muerte", having as co-producer Dennis Ward (the well-known producer and legendary bassist of PINK CREAM 69), and both of them built a great sonority for the album. It's really heavy and clean, but bearing that essential touch of roughness that a Metal album must bear. And everything sounds so good to the ears that everyone will turn the volume as loud as they can. On the album, 12 excellent songs, and it's truly difficult to choose one or other. To begin with, the catchy easy melodies of "Fiesta Y Copas" (excellent rhythmic work, and Ronnie Romero, of RAINBOW appears as a guest on vocals), the guitar addicting riffs shown on "Santa Muerte", the accessible outfit of "What Went Wrong" (where Ricky Warwick, BLACK STAR RIDERS' singer, makes some vocals) and of "Lucky 13" (excellent vocals and guitars once more), the powerful melodic blow given by "Craving", the heavy and bitter ambience of "The Wolf" (great work from bass guitar and drums), and the vocals' duet shown on "Stormy Night" are the right ones. But a full listening will not hurt anyone.

Yes, SINNER is here, and "Santa Muerte" is a fine proof that Mat must put more efforts on it as he puts on PRIMAL FEAR. Hear it and enjoy, because it's almost impossible to resist to its charm.
