Lots of personnel, weak results. This is what SIN69 are offering us on their debut album. The Swiss gang is hell-bent on hard rock. They want to be convincing, but fail to do so. Starting with the artwork, that doesn't catch your eye and moving on to their look. The music should do the talking and that's what we will focus on in the following lines. Opening track "Guardian Angel" kicks in without providing any major surprises in the hard and heavy universe. The universe back in 1985 maybe! It feels like we are going on a trip in a time machine. You'll find all the heavy metal clichés along with a very washed up studio production. The mixing is very raw with no finesse at all. Vocal lines,  guitar riffs and solos are totally uninspired. Sometimes you get the feeling that you are listening to a very bad copy of DORO. It will strike you as very odd to hear this kind of production and arrangement in 2022.

The guitar tone on "Hang it up" is awful and it just scratches your ears. If you made it to "Cowboy" and the high-hat didn't numb you yet, you'll face a power ballad that will instantly transpose you in a state of misery. I can't imagine that a Kneipe in the Alps makes you write this kind of stuff. The next tracks of this debut album pull off the same dusted scheme, so don't expect any changes. Sloppy guitar tones accompany vocal lines that make your ears beg for mercy. "Stop Fighting" is the final track and it seems like the Swiss band focused here a bit more, as this song is maybe the best from this album. Don't expect a huge difference, but at least they are able to wash some of the bitter taste left from the previous tracks. The vocals are quite pleasant, unfortunately the guitar solo makes everything sound very cheap.

Unfortunately this is not a very good start for SIN69, but who knows maybe aging will work for them just like it does for fine wines. Purists (or shall we call them fetishists - the sound engineer that worked in the studio is one for sure) of the genre will still be able to enjoy it, but let's hope their future releases will be more inspired. Give it a spin but don't expect it to spin you!
