When it comes to brutal and technical death metal music, the complexity and the precision of the musical structure are everything, and there was a huge leap in the production of this kind of music in the last ten years, and a lot of memorable bands have entered the Metal scene to prove that this kind of music can be catchy as hell, and here is the Mexican band SEROCS is trying to locate itself in the scene with the new album "The Next".
The mean rapid-paced drumming and the crazy tremolo picked moments and the hysterical tempos are the main musical theme in this record, and this sound is a matured version of the previous album "Oneirology", but somehow the members have tried to shape the music in their own way, and the new sound in their heads will remind of the previous album, which is vital and intense. Though the bass is buried six feet under the soil of the rhythm guitar, but the dynamic performance and the natural fury in the hammering riffs will make you forget about the flaws of the production. One of the best elements of this record is the vocal; the snarling-gutteral-grindy verses will remind of you bands like CRYPTOPSY. Though there are a lot of interesting guitar riffs here and there, but somehow I expected more interesting guitar patterns and more varied ideas, but overall, the riffs are brutal and the listeners will enjoy it no matter what.
"The Next" is actually not a long album, and somehow it's not short, about thirty minutes of absolute inhumane riffs and slamming beats will suck your eyes out of their sockets, with tracks like "Weakness Fed the Fear" and "The Shining One" you will understand the main musical message of the band. The tracks "The Variable" and "ChernoVile" are like a fatal massage, every riff will break a bone and every vocal verse will slough your skin from your bones. The result of this album is better than the previous record, but still the band needs more fresh-crashing moments to be catchier than this. The lyrics are absolutely gory and the vocals are stunning, but technically I feel that there are a lot of missing fabrics from time to time while listening to this record.
This album is not easy at all, so your ears must be prepared well or you have to suffer the butchering consequences. Comatose Music is presenting this record with hate, blood and ferocity for the listeners, so get your copy now and feel the blood streaming from the drums of your ears.
