Satya Graha - Under The Skin Vol 1 album cover

There are times when I kind of need a break after listening to really hard, ass-kicking, raging Heavy Metal bands for like weeks. My ears sort of ask for a short holiday, my mind craves for something smooth and quiet but at the same time enjoyable.
Satya Graha came to fulfill my desire! This Americana/Rock band is something really interesting to dig in to. I mean, not actually dig in but I'd rather say let yourself fly away with them!
Under the Skin - Volume 1 is a journey through quiet highways, passing by green mountains and lakes of tranquillity, under a smiling sky. This is their first EP, after releasing three singles, Pony Up, Lunar Dreams and Torch Bearer's Salute.
Most of the songs on the album are smooth, full of positive feelings, dressed with soft guitar melodies and meaningful lyrics. The feeling David  Vella and Anna Bensch gave me with their voices and music was that I'm relaxing, that I'm listening to something so nice and comforting I don't want to let go. David Vella does mostly the lead singing and I can assure you, this man's got an outstanding voice (he could be the singer of a Southern Rock or even a Hard Rock band without a single problem!). Anna Bensch does backing vocals mainly but in a few songs (like Kali's Tongue and Touch Bearer's Salute) she takes a leading role and let's her fantastic voice unfold!
I liked the entire album but I must admit Pony Up, Kali's Tongue and Birds gave me the warmer feelings of 'em all.
Mankind has been singing about everything under the sun for - oh - at least 50,000 years. So let's face it...it's all been said before. It's kind of hard to come up with new topics to sing about when you look at it that way. So we just have a different approach to singing about the same old stuff. We just write and play stuff from our perspective and give it our own little twist. It works for us and people really respond to it. That's what counts. (Satya Graha)
