To hear many Rock genres enables the listeners to have a deeper and wider comprehension of music, and even when you don't understand a band's work at first, your knowledge will guide the way. That's the right way to deal with many musical releases that a writer must deal sometimes as well (before everything, we, the writers, are fans of music after all). And the Swedish quintet SATOR can play with the ideas of many, as this reissue of their first album, "Basement Noise" (originally released on 2006), shows.

Musically, they can be labeled as a Garage/Alternative Rock band with a heavy load from Grunge Rock melodies and a clear Hard Rock/Punk Rock embodiment (or attitude, you can say). But these words are just trying to express the experience the ears have with their musical work. It's full of energy and noisy for some due their uncompromised insight, and even today it sounds alive and filled with many dirty hooking melodies. Yes, this new release is justified by what the album is. Chips Kiesbye (the band's vocalist and guitarist) produced the album along with Henryk Lipp. And the sonority seems organic, as the album was recorded on an analogic set of studio devices, because that rough and raw feeling is presented, but in a way that can be understood by anyone. So be prepared to be tamed!

Their fuzzy and astonishing melodic impact is really amazing and listening to the 13 songs is easy. But for a first time, "So Dressed Up" and the sets of melodies used and good choruses, the Punk Rock outfit of "Escape from Pigvalley Beach" (very good guitars) and "The Ghost of My Control", the accessible and frantic Rock 'n' Punk touch of "This Ain't the Way Home" (very good bass guitar and drums parts) and "Water on a Drowning Man", the frantic melodic energy of "You Ain't Nothing to Me", and the bone shaking melodies of "No!" are the best.

Obviously, it's the first time that "Basement Noise" is released on a vinyl format, so take your chances, because SATOR deserves no less.
