War on Life
Sanity Control
SANITY CONTROL are a proper Crossover Thrash, Hardcore, Punk Metal band from Warsaw, Poland formed in 2018, about thirty years too late.
The songs are lean, no nonsense, short sharp songs. They come at you like a series of hard, rapid punches to body. There is only one pace, and that is F.A.S.T, all songs done and over in under 3 minutes, so the pummeling is over quickly, and you are left in a bloody heap.
That however isn't to say it isn't a satisfied bloody heap. No as their first (short) long player, this is a band that shows a huge amount of talent and passion for their musical heritage.
About the songs, well pick pretty much any and you'll get the idea. Angry lyrics spat out with venom, drums battered at such a pace to hammer each song home, the bass racing to keep up, and the guitar doing its best impression of an cornered beast, wailing and snarling to get at you and tear you limb from limb.
Yes there are issues, the nature of the beast is the songs have a tendency to sound the same, something that can be leveled at a lot of bands back in the day too. But there is evidence that, given time to develop, given the chance to play to more and more people (and lets hope ALL bands get that and soon), like so many similar bands before them, I hope they develop their sound, without losing the anger and passion, but find some more gears, different ways to vent, or they will burn out, again like so many other bands before. It's just I hear something in these guys that could become big, if the chances arise.
To illustrate I'll say the two song punch of "Hunt" and "Enough" have something about them. They have all of the things mentioned above, but "Hunt", for a 2.06 minuet song it actually makes to sit up and double take, and its because it is subtly different from its record mates.
And "Enough" is still a short one, but actually shows they do have a second gear, less punky and more Metal perhaps? For me these two show there is some real potential in there. I hope to be around to review album number 2, that's going to be a killer.
