The Curse
Sahara
Metal maniacs, rejoice! I am proud to present to you: SAHARA; hailing from Argentinian grounds - performing Stoner/Sludge/Doom Metal, on their debut Demo entitled: "The Curse" (released April 9th, 2021).
Since formation in 2017; the trio in question have a Split entitled: "Sahara / Mephistofeles" (released May 26th, 2017), 2 full-length albums entitled: "The Light" (released June 6th, 2017) & "II" (released August 3rd, 2018). A live-album entitled: "Live In Hell" (released April 20th, 2018), and their debut Demo of which I am introduced to entitled: "The Curse". 4 tracks ranging at around 17:03; SAHARA arranges an intricately designed formula on some heavy-hitting Stoner/Sludge/Doom Metal amalgamations.
Opening up with this wildly rushing strum beat, an amplified adrenaline in demo contrast unleashes this rawly rough sound production of rampantly rompy maelstrom stability. "Hell On Earth" elements a flamboyant but groovy ramification on ripping shreds from consisting guitar/vocalist Martin Ludi, the frontman excels at a dynamically dexterous virtuosity on quintessential rhythms and gnarly grooves in a boisterously bouncy fashion on rapidly swift nimbleness while surging with throaty pipes that soar with yelling substance while towering persistency perseveres towards this mighty remedy on weighty punchiness. Among a high-pitched singing solidity that organically shouts through this old school psychedelic hook in gripping expertise, capturing doomy sludge while merging stoner tempos marvellously while monolithic strikes pursuit with strong solos to boot - ending with this acoustic harmony for good measure.
"Altar Of Sacrifice" begins with this sturdy yet venomous thud from audible bassist Gabriel Ravera; until more pile driving chisels distil with yet rambunctious but cavernous clobbering also from hammering drummer Ivan Sacharczuk who stomps the set with steely precision & thumpy mobility. Injecting an infectious laceration on killer momentum that utilises uniquely versatile vehemence while manifesting with this feverish attribute in profusely robust technicalities that trailblaze with skyrocketing firepower fabrications in which aren't absolutely extreme but enjoyably listenable. The penultimate track "Gallows Noose" continuously belts a triggering riff which swamps you with systematic revs until this BLACK SABBATH-esque hymn drills into you while this barrage frenzy articulates with riveting scours that will bop heads and tap your feet in no time.
Overall concluding "The Curse" with the finishing instrumental rocker & titular track; which snarls with potently vibrant quirks, while supplying snappy contortion in distorted heft, I am compelled to say that SAHARA most surely outdone themselves with this debut deliverance. It keeps alive the resounding resonance of 70s/80s fused aesthetics in a brilliant ability of zest, detail and grit. Whoever said rock/metal is dead is an adroit idiot, it's very much here to stay & this offering is a repeatable slab of enjoyably entertaining discoveries that will make fans of this sub-genre very pleased until the next performance for sure - most worthy of checking out.
