Sacri Monti - Sacri Monti album cover

No, I don't have so deep roots in the past to be someone who is crying and claiming that everything, in musical terms of good, was done somewhere in the middle of the 60s or 70s. It's not a matter of opinion, but just a matter of being truly honest. Because if you didn't live on the 60s or 70s, you'll never understand the reasons for the bands of those times were doing things in that way. The same goes for the kids trying to fit in an 80s Metal way. You can love LED ZEPPELIN, BLACK SABBATH, DEEP PURPLE, RUSH or LYNYRD SKYNYRD, it's not forbidden. But to try to bring back that way of playing or sound, is a blasphemy, disrespecting our heroes.

The best you can do is to try to bring those ways to our times and to play it now with the technologies, and not to be a clone from our forefathers. And besides the North American quintet SACRI MONTI is not doing an extreme bad work, "Sacri Monti" sounds like a moldy and bad tasting joke.

They sound like those bands that I told above; a Hard Rock way with a clear Bluesy feeling. But what can they do that hasn't been done?

It's the answer I was searching for while the album was playing, and the one I found: nothing, it's an endless repetition of everything I heard many times before, but back then, there were reasons and personality. Now, both are absent.

The production was done in a way the sound quality is focusing all the energies of the search for that same feeling of the time the giants were walking the Earth. But it's useless. You can reproduce the sound, but not the essence, and that's the problem.

Six long songs are presented on the album. Of course some good moments can be found in "Staggered in Lies" and "Sitting Around in a Restless Dream", because the band is really good. But this tentative of being like LED ZEPPELIN was or another band, is boring.

Please, focus your energy in creating something that would fit on a modern sound quality. The giants that are active do this way, so why can't you do the same? You're not them, so don't even try.

Man, what a loss...<
