RUMPLESTILTSKIN GRINDER. If you didn't already figure you were in for it by the mere mention of this utterly bizarre band name, then boy do you have something wicked coming your way! This album thrives on sheer brutality. Though "brutal" is probably the most overused word in the world of Metal slang, there is simply nothing in the English language that can capture the degree of intensity heard on their third and latest release entitled "Ghostmaker".
Blistering double bass pedals, mesmerizingly superhuman guitar riffs, and downright dirty vocals. Basically, TOXIC HOLOCAUST on steroids. "Those Who Are Unseen" sets the rather challenging pace and energy that the band somehow maintains and vitalizes throughout the album; from this first track to "Run Through the Bastards", energy is rarely lost. I was only slightly disappointed by the awkward ending of "Iron Jaw", which fades out just as the solo guitar was beginning its sonic hypnosis. Your blood will be boiling, and your organs will be lashing around as "Dripping with Venom" and "Fucking Wild" drive your senses insane with ruthless Thrash savagery.
Rounding off the album with heavy groove-laden tracks such as "Ghostmaker" and "Get Out of My Gigantic Graveyard", RUMPLESTILTSKIN GRINDER's newest album is among the roughest and toughest Metal albums that is not in the tech death genre. This is a decidedly positive recommendation from the girl who can easily envision herself moshing to this music sometime in the near future.
