Soulbound

Robin McAuley

Robin McAuley, the voice that defined the sound of supergroups MCAULEY/SCHENKER and BLACK SWAN is back with his third solo album and is out to prove why he should always be included in the conversation of “best singers of rock” with this latest release “Soulbound”.

Robin McAuley is proud to be releasing to the world his new solo album, “Soulbound” via Frontiers Music Srl released February 12, 2025. The album sees McAuley’s voice continuing to defy time, sounding as inspired and powerful as ever. Definitively more guitar-driven straight hard rock compared to his previous albums, “Soulbound” is still wonderfully melodic, infectious, and fist-in-the-air uplifting. After reemerging on the recording side of the music industry with guest spots on MICHAEL SCHENKER FEST albums and tours in addition to fronting the hard rock supergroup BLACK SWAN, McAuley was (and still is) feeling invigorated and ready to explore even more creative output to let the world see that his voice is still as powerful as ever and he explains ""Soulbound" is a much edgier, harder guitar-driven record than my previous two for the label. In addition, I'm working with a new producer from the Frontiers label, Aldo Lonobile, who brought these songs to life with his Kick-Ass production."

Opening up with “Til I Die”, the title track “Soulbound” and “The Best of Me” blow through the doors with the undeniable reassurance that McAuley isn’t messing around and we will be riding in the fast lane with the top down, hair blowing in the wind and not caring what the speedometer spits out because we’re back to the time when good time rocking music ruled our existence….period! The remaining tracks all bring a beautifully crafted diverse and individuality, not only showcasing McAuley’s empowering range and vocal wizardry as he becomes a storyteller enhanced by the magic and magnificent dual guitar work of Andrea Seveso and Alessandro Mammola with their searing riffs and gut wrenching solos that climb high with energy and adrenaline.  The hardest, crotch grabbing songs “Let it Go”, “Wonder of the World” and “Paradise” all deliver straight forward, no nonsense traditional metal-esque heaviness. Mixed in are the AOR, radio friendly rockers "Crazy", “One Good Reason” and “There was a Man” with heavy doses of wonderfully paced melodic, playful hard rocking riffs delivering an invigorating exuberant sound.

“Soulbound” delivers as promised, giving a tasty and meaty true hard rocking album. There is  not a bad song or filler to be found. I was especially happy to see that McAuley did not try and clone the sound he helped create with MICHAEL SCHENKER and BLACK SWAN by putting his own stylings and persona all over this outstanding effort.
