It's not very often that I come across Heavy Metal bands from Colombia. Well, I do now, as REVENGE is from Medellin and has been around since 2002. This has resulted in quite an extensive list of releases so far. At the last count we were at 9 studio albums, 1 live album, 1 compilation album, 5 EP's and 4 splits being under their belt before the release of their most current undertaking, which I am about to review. "Night Danger" was originally released in March 2025 as an independent album, but has now gained another try as German record company Dying Victims Productions has decided to step in and give REVENGE  a chanced of conquering Europe as well as the rest of the world.

REVENGE is a Heavy Metal band in the old fashioned sense, but they are able to spice up their sound by adding as many Speed Metal parts and rhythms as possible. It gives the music on "Night Danger" a lively and inspiring sound. And yes, it is rather obvious that we are dealing with a bunch of very experienced musicians here, as everything blends together just as you would hope it does. What helps is the fact that Hellfire has the kind of voice that really fits the music down to a T. The other thing that is to their advantage is that the production of "Night Danger" is faultless, giving them a formidable sound.

What a band needs to stand out is to have some redeeming or unique feature that no-one other has. Those are rare to begin with, but there still are bands popping up that are able to achieve that feat. Even though I have listened to "Night Danger" quite a few times by now, I have yet to find anything in that vein within the eight REVENGE sounds and songs that make up the whole album. To me this sounds like it has all been done before, sometimes better, sometimes not as good. That just means that REVENGE isn't going to gain points for originality. That shouldn't be a problem at all, as long as the songs are outstanding or so interesting that they are drawing you in from the first second onwards. Unfortunately, they aren't doing that for me, but for the people who love their Heavy Metal laced with Speed Metal "Night Danger" will most probably provide just over 37 minutes of pleasure, whatever I might say or think. And I am more than okay with that conclusion.
