Sudden Impact

Redshark

What immediately becomes clear is that the band have opted to change their dimensions between Heavy Metal, Power Metal and Speed Metal by putting the emphasis on the latter of the three for “Sudden Impact”. It makes this album just a tad more intense, slightly more in your face and certainly unable to ignore when you are listening to it.

REDSHARK is back with a vengeance. After having reviewed their debut album "Digital Race" back in 2022 and rating it with a nine out of 10, I was quite eager to give their second studio album a go as well. These guys from Barcelona in Spain have used their time wisely and made sure that when they would return it would be with over 41 minutes of worthwhile music. They have named it "Sudden Impact" and let it loose on the world on Halloween, 31 October 2025.

What immediately becomes clear is that the band have opted to change their dimensions between Heavy Metal, Power Metal and Speed Metal by putting the emphasis on the latter of the three for "Sudden Impact". It makes this album just a tad more intense, slightly more in your face and certainly unable to ignore when you are listening to it. REDSHARK have been able to maintain the quality they already showed us on the debut album, and it makes for very pleasant listening. If I had to give you influences or comparisons, musically you can just think of early AGENT STEEL mixed with IRON MAIDEN. And as I am being positive anyway, I have to say that I feel that the quality of the songs is just that bit better than before. There is no two ways about it, "Sudden Impact" is an impressive statement to make musically.

But I can't let this review go without mentioning singer Pau Correas. He is the proverbial powerhouse, with a voice that is so strong and clear that he just lifts the music through the roof. His sound is that of BRUCE DICKINSON mixed with ERIC ADAMS (MANOWAR). His vocal lines make sense; they cut through glass like a laser and they are the most impressive element on "Sudden Impact". Don't get me wrong, the rest of the musicians in REDSHARK aren't slouches either, but the magic voice of Pau Correas in combination with the powerful Speed Metal with Power and Heavy Metal elements is what raises this "Sudden Impact" above a lot of others. Like I mentioned in the first paragraph, I rated the debut album "Digital Race" with a 9 out of 10, and even though I feel that Sudden Impact" is just a tad better than that one, I'm going to rate it the same. I'm doing that to encourage you to listen to both albums of REDSHARK. They are more than worth your time.
