Grieve No More
Random Eyes
Some Metal bands are awaking to a reality: although the trend on Metal right now is to worship the past, it will end in the future. What will be of those who try to live in the past? I don't have the answer for this question, but I believe that to find a way to make a fusion of old Metal genres with some modernity can be a way. The fourth album of Finnish band RANDOM EYES, "Grieve No More", can be a model for future bands.
On the band's musical work, nothing new at all: it's just the old and good traditional Heavy Metal format used by German and Nordic bands, with a very good technical insight, along with charming and catchy melodies. But the most evident aspect of their music is that they don't live in the past, but use a modern embodiment for their songs. This makes their work shines as something new and fresh to our ears. Yes, it is very good, indeed.
Christian Palin, the band's vocalist and mastermind of this project (that sings on PANORAMA and is the former vocalist from ADAGIO) produced the album, having Angelo Buccolieri mixing and mastering the songs. The sonority of "Grieve No More" is strong, melodic, and with that heavy and modern weight in the form that bands as SANCTUARY and JUDAS PRIEST uses. But the songs are sounding clear as well, besides the sonority could be better.
Using studio musicians to play other instruments that aren't vocals or guitars, on RANDOM EYES' songs you can feel the hooking energy of the 80s and 90s. And "Myopathy" with great and charming melodies (and an amazing chorus), the modern insight that guides the guitar riffs on "Grieve no More", the very good aggressiveness and tempos of "Fates Loves the Fearless", the excellent Hard Rock touches that fills "2 Worlds Collide", and the charming and excellent melodies of "Never Too Late" are the album's greatest moments.
Listen to "Grieve No More", and be prepared to be tamed!
