Ramchat - Krvel album cover

RAMCHAT is a pagan metal band that started in 2013 when Pavel left the band LUNATIC GODS and started this band with a desire to create a different style for the group. From Slovakia, they released a debut EP in 2013 titled Bes and then followed up with a second EP in 2014 with Karpaty. The band combined both of them into a compilation in 2015 before releasing their first full length album in early 2016 called Atrana. Not long after, they were back in the studio and emerged in 2017 with a new album titled Nepočaria!. To cap off a busy and productive five year span, the band put out another EP in 2018 called Jastrab. They returned in 2020 by first releasing an EP and then shortly after, their third album titled Znelo Lesom. Late in 2021 saw the release of the band's forth EP called Krútňava. After putting out another compilation album in the summer of 2022 the band has put the finishing touch on a busy ten year span with their newest album release Krvel.

The album opens with "Mreli" and the song has a strong presence but opens with a calm demeanor that elevates into creative and powerful riffs. This song and many others on the album really have more going on than meets the eye within the music as the band layers the guitar well, with a solid supporting rhythm, the sound is huge. "Krútoava" gives credibility to the big sound theory with a catchy track that includes deep pagan vocals that come across as if telling a story. The vocals are in Slovenian I believe and matches well with the music and provokes the imagination. "Ani majster ani žiak" includes really killer guitar work that nests itself into your memory, you will be tempted to listen to it back to back. The witchy background vocals to finish it off hits the spot. A cross between  MASTODON and TRIBULATION.

More devastation of fretboards in the theatrical track "Mestobes". A bit more on the black and thrash metal elements with solid drumming and guitar solo, makes it hard not to like. "Miesto, kde umierajű" has been my favorite song to listen to so far in the new year. The vocals and creative song writing draws you in and nothing else matters. The last fifty seconds of the track is great on many levels. "Prišli, ukradnűt since" is guided by groovy and heavy bass lines with black/cult metal appeal. A frantic and heavily melodic "Uź ti nepatri" should be able to set off some war cries from the crowd before its end time comes. A ritualistic offering starts off "Krvel" as the album ends just as it left off, with another haunted banger. The dramatic and brutal set up throughout this track and the others is well worth the time to listen to.

It's easy to get pulled into the tracks individually and the album as a whole. The production is top notch, with everything coming across perfectly clear. Hard not to believe that this album won't be well received, it has a wide range of metal scattered within but holds a strong and at times haunting pagan feeling. The band and musicians themselves seem to be at the top of their game. Very good album.
