Morbid Ataraxia
Putridity

The Italian extreme Metal Schools are always revealing very good names, a sign that the bands are not relying on old models, but trying to expand limits and open their own ways into what they’re doing. And being honest: the greater part of Brutal Death Metal acts is just copying what is already created, so it’s a boring experience for the fans. But really: pay attention to what is offered by the Italian squad PUTRIDITY on “Morbid Ataraxia”, their fourth album.
The first very good feature is the sonority, because Andy Testori (who worked on the recordings of guitars and bass), Luca Minieri (mixing) and Wojtek Wiesławski (one of the masters of Hertz Studios, here working on the mastering) gave the band a different outfit than the usual on Brutal Death Metal: clean, defined and with brutal (and very good) instrumental tunes, boosting the aggressiveness and understanding (for the fans’ sake). And what a great artwork of Paolo Girardi (cover art) and Caleb Diederich (on the inlay artwork)!
The difference between these Italians from the greater part of Brutal Death Metal acts: they’re really fast and brutal, using tons of influences from classic Death Metal. It means that those usual slow (and sometimes boring) parts are almost absent, and the focus on the insane fast tempos makes things really full of energy and personality. Ok, the vocals are using low tunes on the death growls, but they fit on such fast and extreme aggressive instrumental sheath. It’s different and full of identity, sharing some similarities with acts as the Brazilian quartet LACERATED AND CARBONIZED.
And prepare your ears, because they’ll rip them with the massive Death Metal brutal slaughter of “Prenatal Obituary”, “Mors Mater Nostra”, “In Disgust They Shine”, “Adipocere Retribution”, “Molten Mirrors of the Subjugated”, “Morbid Ataraxia”, “Overflowing Mortal Smell” and “Immersed in the Spell of Death” (where Mikko Friberg of LIMBLESS, TORSO and TORSOFUCK appears on the vocals), eight Death Metal massacres that needs to be heard at full volume, to make the walls tremble and disturb the peace of the neighborhood. Technique, aggressiveness, weight and identity, all in brutal and great doses!
PUTRIDITY really deserves applause. And call it Brutal Death Metal, Death Metal or anything else, but listen to “Morbid Ataraxia”, and have your bones pulverized!
