Thrash metal has developed so much since the Bay Area heyday of the 80's. Dominated of course by The Big Four, it could be seen that it is harder for other bands to make an impact on a saturated genre. In recent years it can be argued that some bands have started to evolve the traditional Thrash stylings into a new sound its self, but there will always be those that hold true to the traditional sound.

Such a band is PSYCHOÏD. The four-piece French outfit having been around for fourteen years and, seemingly, love to play Thrash Metal as it traditionally should be. Today, we re taking a look at their recent re run of their album "Thrash Impact". The artwork for the album looks like it could have been taken straight from the 80's, I won't go into details on it too much, just go take a look!

"Anarchy" opens with pace, power and energy oozing from every chord and double bass run. It is unapologetic, unforgiving and it is extremely enjoyable. This momentum is carried straight through and into "True Chatter" which continues with the archetypical Thrash stylings, it is absolutely fantastic to hear.

"Live Die But Buy" is next on our stop, aggression and attitude appear to be the order of the day no matter where you look in this album! "TV's Grime" has some absolutely filthy beats that just make the listener want to get up and move, there is so much energy throughout!

When we hit the midpoint and "The Old Scapegoat" there is very much and SLAYEResque opening to be had... Have a listen and see if you can hear it too! That's not to say it is a bad thing either, almost as though they are paying homage to the kings of Thrash. In fact, all of the tracking to this point has appeared to have been almost styled on the likes of SLAYER and ANTHRAX.

In the next few tracks, the ones that caught my eye were "The End Of Times" for its obvious change up in the styles, there was a much larger emphasis on the instrumental elements of the track, where we got to see the band just having some fun with their craft. Also, "We Kick Your Ass" stood out for the final injection of unrelenting energy and attitude to really end the record on an absolute high.

Overall, it was a well-received release when it was initially released. The re mastering and mixing has only added to the sound and increased just how good it is. Any true fans of Thrash get out and buy this record. Now.
