PROWESS are a Rock N' Roll Metal band from North Carolina, USA. Formed in 2016 and having released 2 EP's to date, ("Headfirst" in 2017 & "Rollin' With The Punches" in 2018), the band now bring us their debut full length studio album at the end of 2019.  The 5 man band are under the D.I.Y Record label. The band aspire to be like their hero's from the 70's Rock N' Roll scene and they carry it off well. They have a ZZ TOP or CHEAP TRICK kinda feel to them, so fans of Rock N' Roll style metal will appreciate PROWESS. The lads bring us 9 fresh new tracks on the debut album "Blacktop Theory". They have an excellent quote to sum up the band for the fans, PROWESS is a supreme rock & roll band. We are the unicorn. The dragon. The mythical creature that you thought long extinct." A good quality quote that tells us the band are up there in the quality steaks.

A few tracks on the new debut album stand out and are worth mentioning. Among them are the title track and opening son "Blacktop Theory". This song opens the album with some pretty mean guitar riffs and beating drums. It paves the way for the rest of the album in that classic Rock N' Roll kinda way we would expect from Prowess from the previous EP's. Song number 3 "Every Right" is a 3 minute 24 seconds track with bite. It's a song that you just have to sing along to. "Rock all night and sleep all day, I'm not the only one who feels this way" kinda tells us this is a high energy song for high energy rockers! "Heart's Desire" is a great song too. It has a very catchy rhythm and lyrics that carry you off in a foot tapping head nodding direction. Also a great track from the album is song number 8 "Welcome Home". It's 2 minutes 40 seconds, a song that cries of success after failure. Its about being brought up from the bottom & standing tall and proud on your own two feet.

My personal favourite track from the album is the Bluesy Rock N' Roll song "Tombstone Blue". It's a slow paced tale in a song. One of the highlights of the new album for me. It's definitely one worth listening out for among the 9 songs which have been well written, performed and produced. The band PROWESS have far to go in the future, bringing the Blues style Rock N' Roll to the forefront of the Metal scene. If you're a fan of good old Rock N' Roll or Blues style metal then PROWESS are the band you should hear! A great effort for their debut studio album, and a fine follow up to the first 2 EP's by the band. For fans of the band, the debut album will be a most welcome addition to the collection. If they continue to write and produce at the rate they have done since the band formed in 20156 we are in for a musical treat over the coming years from PROWESS.
