PETE MARONI is a bit of an enigma, at least to me, I've not been able to find a whole lot of information to flesh out a biography for you dear reader. Currently residing in Sweden, PETE essentially is a one-man band, with the exception of drums, he plays all the guitar parts, bass and is the voice. Charlotte Maroni plays bass on the cover of GREEN DAY's "Wake Me When September Ends".

Musically, this is old school classic Rock.  Think KISS, MOTLEY and their ilk. Heck opening track sounds very much like rock, not blues GARY MOORE.  And Musically it is there.  As a guitarist our man is versatile and has the chops.  His bass playing too is on point, and I think it was a very good idea to use "real" drummers, it does add a depth to the sound. But there is a but.  Pete's voice.  Whilst the vocals are adequate, they are the weak-point of the whole thing unfortunately. Some of these songs would be greatly enhanced by a vocalist with a huge range, SEBASTIAN BACH for example would kill some of these! And whilst understanding the record was recorded in Covid conditions, it is my opinion a vocalist, heck even a couple of guest vocalists would make a good album great.

There are some great songs on the album.  Opener "No One Like You" as mentioned above has axe work of a rocking GARY MOORE.  "Change Of Heart" opens with some big riffage.  "Everytime I Close My Eyes" parties like its 1989, with its Punky, Spunky Hair Metal feel, and actually PETE's restrained vocal work on it, and possibly is better than a lot of the 80's hair band singers. "Son Of A Bitch" even with its clichéd chorus is kitsch fun.  "Onondaga" flexes the guitar muscles over some hokey sound effects, but is a good display of PETE's mastery of the Axes.

However, there are equally as many songs that don't work for me.  "Forever" is a slower track, but doesn't quite feel right and could have benefited from a different vocal. Same can be said about "Rasputin", vocally it doesn't work, otherwise it is a reasonable, if throwaway song. The aforementioned cover "When September Ends" is a superfluous track.  I don't like this version any more than I like the original.

This leaves us with "Dancing With The Angels" which would have been the 3^rd single, the "power ballad", and you know what? He knocks it out of the park! I like, no love it.  The vocals fit, the song would be as some bands of the era described them, a "knicker wetter". And finally the KISS like rocker "In The Heat Of The Night" finishes with a flourish! Dirty sleazy guitars and where did that voice come from? Album ends of a definite high!

So all in all not a bad album, but there is room for improvement, yes he can sing, but the album could benefit from different voices on some songs to lift them from good to outstanding.
