The Black Metal sound as we know it today, has a lot of thanks owed to Scandinavian bands, specially from Sweden. Nowadays, there are a lot of bands that sound a lot like Dark Funeral or Marduk, and it has become very difficult to find bands that can give you something new or fresh to offer. In this case, unfortunately it's is no different. PATRONYMICON is... how can I say this? More of the same. It's good, no doubt, but it's just more of the same tired old style that has been made over the last 10 years and that dominates the Black Metal scene.

This release has some really good moments, that reminds me of old DISSECTION, which is something you'll likely notice once you hear the first song "Haissem". This album has a lot of blastbeats and fast riffs, and I do like a lot the consistency of their percussion section, It's pretty well executed. Some moments are absolutely frozen in the 90's, and maybe that's a good thing in some ways. But as I said before, it's something that I was completely expecting, so no real surprises or groundbreaking moments here.

There are definitely songs well done on "Ushered Forth by Cloven Tongue". There are songs with very strong structure, and finished with a quality production. Most of the tracks last over 5 minutes each, which is awesome as this gives you more time to appreciate the album as a whole. Well what can I say? A good album? For sure. IS it one you'll want to listen to entirely? Anything new or groundbreaking? No, and that's where you maybe you'll get disappointed. So ultimately,it's the same old same old, but really well executed. Enjoy it for what it is, and keep searching for the new innovations in Black Metal.
