The End Of Our Flames

I am a true fanatic of the Brazilian Traditional Metal scene. DR. SIN / TEMPESTT / ANGRA are among my favourite bands ever.
I first met Mario Pastore thanks to his breathtaking performance through "The Labyrinth of Truths", the second act in the SOULSPELL Metal Opera, created by drummer / composer Heleno Vale. The album also featured special guests as Jon Oliva (ex-SAVATAGE / AVATAR), Roland Grapow (MASTERPLAN, ex-HELLOWEEN), Zak Stevens (CIRCLE II CIRCLE, ex-SAVATAGE) and Germàn Pascual (ex-NARNIA / DIVINE FIRE) and countless others Brazilian talented singers but my real exultation was his high-pitched-screaming delivery in the exact Halfordian's way, the climax of the whole CD. So when I heard that the first album with his self-named band was out in the streets and titled "The Price For The Human Sins", I rushed to buy it / enjoyed it loudly & abundantly and it finally ended at the 25th rank in my famous Top 30 for 2011.
Now it's time for the sophomore album, the line-up is almost the same, still strong & solid and so is the music; following the straight line of the 1st album, that means providing a good melting pot between JUDAS PRIEST / VICIOUS RUMORS / ICED EARTH with some ACCEPT / PRIMAL FEAR / METALIUM Teutonic flavors.
The vocals are still quite prominent, the range is amazing from piercing screams ("Bring To Me Peace" or "Empty Words") to Ronnie James Dio's dark growl ("Night And Day" or "Liar") from Geoff Tate's whispering ("When The Sun Rises") to deep harsh staccato like Russell Allen ("Fools" or "Envy"), every damn singing style is covered here. However, he's particularly shining on the TTT aka testoteronik-tenor-tricks ("The World Is Falling") and also very impressive in the Dickinson-like vibrato ("Unreal Messages" or "The End Of Our Flames") quite regular in the Brazilian Metal very own fashion (as Roni Sauaf (KATTAH) / Renato Tribuzy / Nando Fernandes (ex-HANGAR) or Iurti Sanson (HIBRIA)), apparently Mario Pastore is a very famous vocal-instructor and he taught many of his techniques to a lot of now well known Metal singers out there, in short his flawless lyrical rendition here is stellar, energetic and inspired. Full mark for Mr. Pastore, One of the unsung heroes of our time.
The music isn't really innovative, PASTORE are not trying to reinvent the steel, but they forged something very nicely crafted amazingly sharp & robust and tightly performed with fast double bass attack, twin guitar duelling & galloping bass, very much like their powerful synchronic fellow comrade from Brazil: LIAR SYMPHONY / PAINSIDE or HIBRIA. The album is warmly recommended true German Metal from South America with huge vocal maestro.
