The Body Electric

Paralandra

A Father and daughter team up with two childhood buddies and form a rock band that becomes a big hit….no, it’s not a silly little sitcom, it is real life, and that’s just the story behind the hard rocking, high energy PARALANDRA.
March 31, 2024

PARALANDRA formed in the summer of 2013 when Casandra Carson and her dad, Paul Carson, began writing songs together to play a one-time event at their local county 4th of July celebration. The response was so positive, and they enjoyed it so much, they decided to continue booking shows and writing songs. The band became a complete unit around 2018 when they joined forces with childhood friends Dakota Watson on drums and Sawyer Rikard adding bass and began a heavy touring schedule supporting national artists such as TANTRIC, Yngwie Malmsteen, DOKKEN plus being added to the KISS Kruise, the NAMM Show and found time to release their debut full-length album “Street Magic” in 2021. Despite continuing, almost non-stop touring they reentered the studio to record the album I’m reviewing “The Body Electric” set for release on April 4, 2024 as they continue to “record, write, tour, and work tirelessly to build their brand, and change the direction of rock music to be a force for good in this world.” I was introduced to PARALANDRA in 2023 when I saw them playing at a local concert venue and was immediately blown away not only by their music but also their high energy stage presence and chemistry. I feel it is my sworn duty as a music lover and reviewer to help propel any band or artist into the spotlight and get the word out to the music public.

We open with two powerful, full throttle songs that demand your listening attention from the very first note on “Look at Me Now” and “Dirty Love” showcasing the high energy that this band brings front and center with raw and savage laden riffs keeping an electrifying pace and knee knocking guitar licks powered by the ravishing vocals of Casandra Carson who is a cross between the intensity of Lzzy Hale and the passion of Pat Benatar, that my friend is a win-win situation. “Give me a Reason” hits on all cylinders with savage, raw vocals this time almost taking a backseat to the amazing pure hard rocking, in your face riffs perfectly balanced by backing of the meaty bass and drum work, a real down and dirty song. A heartfelt and absolutely gorgeous ballad on “Love of my Life” delivered seductively with intimacy, passion and commitment that immerses the listener to experience the emotions and feelings of this love story. “Savannah” gives us a different side of the band with a more moody, deeper vocal layering sandwiched between a churning beat and voraciously delicious tuned down guitar work. “Resurrexit” ends the album with attitude and conviction delivering hard hitting riffs and equally hard-hitting lyrics “Like I’m making friends with my enemies, you brought me back from the dead like you promised, my stories not over yet, I can see the light as they bury me, now I’m back from the dead”, a perfect hardcore finish.

I actually would love to see a silly little sitcom starring PARALANDRA, we know it’d be a rocking good time. It’s great to see a band that’s worked so hard finally getting the recognition they so rightly deserve as they continue to deliver a fresh and dynamic sound with all the arrows pointing up.
