Orianthi - O album cover

Platinum-selling recording artist and world class guitarist, ORIANTHI has signed an exclusive record deal with the legendary independent rock label, Frontiers Music Srl who will handle the release of her upcoming new album, "O" globally. This will be ORIANTHI's first new studio album in seven years and her first new music as a solo artist in six years. The album contains ten tracks.

"Contagious" leads off the album. It opens with a heavy groove, and harmonized vocals. Orianthi has a really nice voice...I only knew she could play a mean guitar, but her vocals are equally as impressive. "Sinner's Hymn" opens with some electronica, and Orianthi's sultry vocals. A bluesy groove moves the song forward. The guitar solo is thoughtful and plays well with the melody line. For me, it falls somewhere in the spectrum of Rock/Pop, but that is neither here nor there. "Rescue Me" begins with soft keyboard notes...or are they guitar notes? Again, the sound here is very bluesy and emotional. Even some harmonic notes are present here.

"Blow" opens with more electronica, with a heavy blues influence. This song could easily be a radio hit, and there's nothing wrong with that. This time, she lays down a firey guitar solo. "I just want blow your mind" she croons. "Sorry" is just over three-minutes in length, opening with the thud of heavy bass guitar notes, and her dreamy vocals. The song gets a little darker at the point of the guitar solo. "Crawling out of the Dark" features soft guitar notes and some very charming ambiance. Orianthi's vocals are very poignant here. She really does have an excellent voice, with great control. This might be my favorite on the album.

"Impulsive" opens with fuzzy bass guitar notes and some lead guitar. It's a mid-tempo rocker that features some harmonized vocals and some long "ohhhs" in the chorus. It's a positive sounding song. "Streams of Consciousness" begins with some slide guitar and a head bobbing rhythm. I really wasn't sure what to expect on the album, but the blues are obviously a big influence on Orianthi. "Company" begins with some programming and an electronic beat, with bass notes. The vocals and guitar play together for a spell. There is some darkness and mystery here in this song as well.

"Moonwalker" closes the album. There is a bit of a gospel influence present here, along with a heavy blues influence. There are no guitars here, just vocals and programming. As I mentioned above, I really had no idea what to expect here. The sound falls somewhere in the Rock/Pop genre for me, which is fine, as many Metalheads can appreciate Pop music. I also only pictured Orianthi as a guitarist, but man does she have a very charming and sultry set of pipes. She obviously puts her all into the album, and for that I have to congratulate here, but it's probably not an album that I would revisit.
