Of Feather And Bone - Sulfuric Disintegration album cover

On November 13, 2020, OF FEATHER AND BONE released "Sulfuric Disintegration". OF FEATHER AND BONE is a Death Metal trio from Denver, the home of so many fantastic underground Black and Death Metal bands. "Sulfuric Disintegration" is the band's third full-length album, after "Embrace The Wretched Flesh" released in 2015 and "Bestial Hymns Of Perversion" released in 2018. Since their first full length, they have evolved from the fast-paced grind of "Embrace The Wretched Flesh", to the equally fast-paced but more traditional subterranean Death Metal leaning "Bestial Hymns Of Perversion".

The album kicks off with the fast-paced opener "Regurginated Communion". While the band may have somewhat strayed from their punk roots, they haven't lost all of their energy or speed. However, they have traded in some of that ferocity with sludgy riffs. That sludge goes so well with the monstrous low vocals. I'm also a fan of their guitar work on this album, such as the guitar solo on "Entropic Self Immolation".

The third track "Noctemnania" is one of my favorites of the album. It shows how well the band plays the super sludgy sections, creating a doomy atmosphere. They also transition seamlessly to their relentlessly fast baseline pacing. Neither the slow nor the fast paced sections are repetitive, as they always return with a slight difference of some kind. They leave no room to doubt they're delivering the brutal, yet dynamic, album they were aiming for.

Overall, I recommend "Sulfuric Disintegration" to fans of Death Metal in the vein of early INCANTATION, but with better production, or the recent INFERNAL COIL, but with less noise influence. OF FEATHER AND BONE continues to evolve from their grindcore roots, though they don't stray too far from their recent Death Metal sound. All in all, it's a solid record and one of the better Death Metal releases to round out 2020.
