Necrodeath - The Age of Dead Christ album cover

Some people think that Black Metal, after the coming of the SWOBM, was a privilege only in Nordic countries and Greece. Sorry to say, but whoever thinks in this way must go back to study about the genre. VENOM, BATHORY, HELLHAMMER/CELTIC FROST, SODOM and DESTRUCTION are the most famous, but there were other names that helped to build the genre's sonority, as SARCÓFAGO from Brazil. From Italy, the veteran NECRODEATH gave their contribution as well. It's an honor to talk about their new album, "The Age of Dead Christ".

For those that don't know, the quartet makes a mix of Black Metal with Thrash Metal elements in the format of the 80s, but using their own personality to guide their creative power. It would be a sin against their history to compare their brutal and sharp form of music with anyone. Any Black/Thrash Metal band must have them as an inspiration, because their aggressive musical work is amazing and truly seductive today. Their music never gets old. On the production, the efforts were done to give them an organic and simple form of sound that could preserve their musical identity. But the producer really made a good work, because you can understand what they are playing with no efforts in this dry and clear sound quality. It's very good, indeed.

They know how to play fast in some moments, and on others, slow and really somber. And besides all the nine songs are really great, the charming raw energy of "The Whore of Salem" (that shows fine guitars with fine riffs), the fast Black/Thrash brutality of "The Master of Mayhem" (these sharp shrieked vocals are excellent), the HC/Thrash force shown on "The Order of Baphomet", the bitterness of the harmonies of "The Triumph of Pain" with its slow tempos, their new version for "The Undead" (a song from their first album from 1987, "Into the Macabre" ), that here is renamed as "The Return of the Undead" (and here you'll understand how they link their past to the present, and on the vocals, the veteran idol A.C. Wild, of BULLDOZER, make an especial appearance); and the sinister and darkened slow paced "The Age of Dead Christ" (where the band's melodies are better heard) are their finest moments.

"The Age of Dead Christ" is really a great album, the band's eleventh work, so pay to them some respect, and hear it!

Praise the Italian Thrash/Black Metal lords!
