MXD is an Electro/ Metal band from Lausanne, Switzerland, and they are here with the release of their seventh studio album titled "Endurance". They first formed over 20 years ago and have showed no signs of slowing down at all. They've done everything from local shows, to touring parts of Europe, and to playing at festivals over the years.
The first track is also the title of their album "Endurance" and it begins with that electro sound that they claim to be. The track sounds like it was a live track at a show because you can hear the crowd in the background at times. "Eraser" begins nearly the same way with sound emulation at the beginning. The vocals have that classic metal sound to them almost like an early 90's era. "Ain't Dead Yet" begins with a single guitar faded in the background while the synth fires up. There is a build up at about a minute in but then it just leads back to the verse where it left off. To be honest, it is kind of hard to hear the instruments at parts because it is drowned out with the electronic sounds through most of the song.
"Sisyphus" begins with a slow intro but then jumps into the verse. "Nowhere Forever" begins with what could be good vocal ranges but it is mainly drowned out by the post production and editing. It also sounds like he just repeats the song title through the entire track in different pitches. "Black Lake" has a jumpy vibe to it and just sounds like a party song to me. "Mojo" is the final track on the album and this one keeps the drums on loop and you can hear some pinch harmonics in the background from the guitars. Other than that nothing really stands out for me here.
After listening to "Endurance" I am quite disappointed in the album overall. Bands can incorporate the Electronic/ Metal genre combination very well but it seems like MXD weren't able to do that. Which is a shame because they are seasoned musicians with over two decades of experience that maybe I was just expecting more. They have the talent for sure, but then again after seven albums it could be hard to come up with new material but I am not sure. You'll just have to listen to them yourself and decide.
