Balkan death metal band MUD FACTORY wastes no time introducing their brutal sound on their first LP "The Sins Of Our Fathers". From the very first track "As I Watch Them Fall", it is clear listeners are in for a heavy, groove-filled treat. Headbanging is inevitable. As expected from this genre, the lyrics are dark and hellish, the riffs are aggressive, and the drums will beat you to death. What I like about this band is that the guttural growls are not completely unintelligible as is sometimes the case when dealing with this type of metal and similar other metal subgenres. Personal preference, but I tend to prefer to understand what I'm listening to without having to constantly search for lyrics online.

"In My Inferno" and "You All Will Suffer" are the two standouts on the album, however, I don't dislike any of these songs. I really enjoy the mix of highs and lows on these two tracks. "You All Will Suffer" even offers up some semi-clean vocals, which is another detraction from the death metal genre, but works very well in this case. "Self-Proclaimed God" is massively heavy and dirty in the best possible way. "I want to hear you scream my name. I want to hear you beg me for mercy." This song is the epitome of death metal.

While the song as a whole is still pretty good, the one thing I don't like about the opening track "As I Watch Them Fall", is the "whoa-oh-oh-oh, whoa-oh-oh-oh-oh" that makes up the chorus section. It doesn't seem to fit with the darkness and aggressiveness of the track or the rest of the album and feels a little out of place, although the melody of it works.

The lyrical content in "Essence Of My Being" is probably my favorite on the whole album. The track is seemingly about lost love, which is at least more relatable than most death metal content. I definitely don't find anything in this album that is any different from the rest of the death metal out there, or anything that particularly stands out, but it's not a bad release by any means. Fans of the genre won't be disappointed.

It's not hard to believe this band has won the biggest band competition in the Balkans and the Serbian Wacken Metal Battle. If you're a fan of blast beats, gnarly vocals, and nasty riffs, you'll be a fan of this MUD FACTORY album.
