MORITZ is a melodic Hard Rock / AOR band, it was formed in early 1986 in London, United Kingdom. The band consisted of members from ICEMON, SPITFIRE and LA SECRETS. They split in 1988 and Ian, Greg & Andy became the band IF ONLY and Peter joined SAMSON. The band returned in 2008 and year released "City Streets". A few years later the reformed line-up released "Undivided", and now there is their new offering "SOS".

The opener "Fire", a pretty catchy tracker, following the vein of WHITESNAKE, sharing a few hardened riffing, tight rhythm section and fine melodies. Remember the chorus as it will be come back to haunt with its passion. "Gonna Lose Her", the album's first appointed single, hails with solid riffs and profound keyboards display along with vocalist Peter Scallan's voice that suits so well to the overall aura of the song with its diversity and contributed to the winning chorus. "Mercury Falling" provided an emotional vocal orientation insinuating BRYAN ADAMS alongside the rhythm guitar riffery underlining a true melodic AOR playing, with a slight similarity to QUEEN, with pulsating rhythmic section, keyboards up to the high heavens (not smelly). Title track "SOS" rushes back again to WHITESNAKE, with an impressive soloing an quite a memorable refrain. Within "Remember Yesterday" I found several influences of FOREIGNER, TOTO and THE BEATLES, and older style of Hard Rock, amazingly played. The nifty balladry "Caught Between Life & The Light" with that great AEROSMITH vibe sharing the pain with an amazing guitar solo kind of like Slash's style. "Can't Hide My Heart" continues the band's incredible mixture of Hard Rock and AOR fragments, the melodic singing turned out in the spirit of Rob Mancini with an unbelievable guitar solo, I found it to be a great blending of new meets old.

Others more than worth the trouble of listening: "Amber Lee" ascending with energetic riffs & drumming, melodic & nice lyrics with keys sounding in the area of EDDA, "Soul Of Fire" with Bluesy type guitars, sweet ballad "Flying Too Close To The Sun" with resemblances to KANSAS and there is "Invincible", a passionate rocker.

"SOS" is an energetic type of Hard Rock meets AOR; MORITZ founded a catchy ground of songs without being overly cheesy about it. The album was well produced and engineered, truly compelling 80s directions with a little touch of the modern industry. Highly recommended for all type of Rock fans, even Metalheads.
