Vile Postmortem Irrumatio
Monument Of Misanthropy
The coexistence between younger and older Metal subgenres in Metal’s main genres it’s a very good thing (besides some Metalheads show a tendency to stay attached to one or another subgenre). And evolution comes as musicians understand that they don’t need to follow this or that model, but create their own things according with their own ideas. And besides nothing new is heard on “Vile Postmortem Irrumatio”, the new album of the Austrian band MONUMENT OF MISANTHROPY, it sounds honest and personal. Paul Nazarkardeh, Shoi Sengupta, Marco Mastrobuono, Raphael Hendlmayer, Joe Gatsch, Julius Kössler and Norbert Leitner all worked on the recordings, with Jei Doublerice working as producer and sound engineer, and making the mixing and mastering.
The idea was to create an apocalypse in form of sonority, to improve band’s musical aggressiveness, but to make the band’s music understandable as well, and things are in a very good level, indeed. As guest, here is the blast beats king Eugene Ryabchenko (drummer of FLESHGOD APOCALYPSE) as session drummer. And the artwork for the cover done by Daemorph Art is excellent. Although the band is named a Brutal Death Metal act, it’s not hard to check influences from Technical Death Metal, traditional Death Metal and other genres on the mix. But it’s a violent, fast and brutal work, filled with influences from North American acts as DEICIDE, MONSTROSITY, DYING FETUS (as their version of “Your Treachery Will Die with You” is here to prove) and others. It’s fast, aggressive and brutal, but technical and done with passion and brutality.
The album has many great moments, but to deal with songs as “How to Make a Killer” (a fast and furious song filled with excellent guitar riffs), “The Atascasdero Years” (another brutal and fast bombing, filled with excellent instrumental arrangements and killing drums playing), “Hits One and Two” (again massacring blast beats and shredding guitar solos are heard), “Manipulating the Experts” (the contrasts between screams and low grunts is excellent in a similar way to Glen Benton), “Vile Postmortem Irrumatio” and “The Devil's Slide”, and “Pueblo Paranoia” is to be waiting for a massive fire strike! And obviously that their version for “Your Treachery Will Die with You” is really very good.
It’s obvious that “Vile Postmortem Irrumatio” depicts that MONUMENT OF MISANTHROPY still holds potential to be turned into music. But for now, prepare your ears!
