So who is ready, and has the wills and thrills after a day's work, to walk down a trip with me down memory lane? Actually I was just there yesterday, I got shipped forty years back reviewing the Texan jeans draped tigers of SCORPION CHILD, but as you can see, I can go flash backwards pretty quick. So how about it for a speedy bite of the past again with yours truly? Well since you are reading this review it means that you are ready to taste the sweet vintage bloody red wine, because an old kept tightly wine, is a fine saccharinity to serve. Yet I believe that these Canadian chaps of MONSTER TRUCK are oozed up on something else, maybe Scotch, Bourbon or plenty kegs of cold fresh beer. Either way, alcohol isn't the main theme around here, just a stroll in the park between heart-warming Blues, the better life and a little shot in the misty dark. "Furiosity", released via Dine Alone Records, demonstrated an uncanny Southern oriented Hard Rock, picturing the blazing antiquated magical jiffies of the 70s like BLACK SABBATH, LED ZEPPELIN, DEEP PURPLE, AC/DC, early WHITESNAKE and BAD COMPANY, yet also woozy and dazed late 80s to 90s Grunge / Stoner scooping salvos of QUEENS OF THE STONE AGE, CLUTCH and SOUNDGARDEN. No doubt that this is a conjuration of piercing Rock, MONSTER TRUCK assimilating older times as a few chosen groups have been doing with flying colors.

Though still smoking the haze of the past, and other than really few examples out of the "Furiosity" tracklist, MONSTER TRUCK are all out war on their debut, letting off loads of steam, punching it hard and overwhelming with irresistible energies right off every bit of their youthful power. After a few tracks, crossing swords with the skanky robustness of "Sweet Mountain River", "Old Train" and "The Lion", I understood why they called themselves MONSTER TRUCK, pure classic obliteration right in front of your shaking head, begging you to headbang just that one time until you will be addicted to the sound the furious music. The music is a Hard Rock obsolete universe with no end, hovering above with mostly tough hard high octane hitting rockers highly catchy but the opposite of cheesy, not serving cheap thrills but only things that kill, respectful, paying the tribute just right, groovy rhythms enclosing boogie flashes a long with 70s so called speed ("Undercover Love", "Boogie" and "The Giant"), crunchy arty guitaring contributing those fine dirty styled classic vibe soloing and of course I wouldn't cross the line without telling the tale of the vocals. I didn't drink anything, though I probably should, but I noticed two different voice patterns. Nah, either way, I enjoyed them both yet I probably heard Jon more than anyone else in the band. I just mostly described you the roundness kick ass sureness of blazing rockers, but MONSTER TRUCK also knew how to seduce with troubled Blues, which seemed to indicate of a better ending after all, like "My Love Is True" or the epic, PINK FLOYDish, flamboyant, panting of the "For The Sun".

I couldn't seem to shake loose of that high dose of adrenaline, not being able to calm myself down. "Furiosity" is the extension of the term furious, onward for the next in line drug, puffing good vibrations, sinking it down hard as being true Texan cowboys. So how about that boys and girls? I believe that this trip back in time will do well for you, ease you up really got while kicking your ass with some nasty Boogie Rock of the old days of 70s articulated but easy living freedom Rock.
